Aesculus parviflora (Hippocastanaceae)
A true aristocrat among native Southeastern woody plants, with 1-1.5' snowy white bloom spikes that catch the eye from afar. An amazing midsummer treat, complemented by wonderful foliage — leaves emerge a rich bronze, change to a glossy dark green at bloom time, and turn bright yellow in fall. A colonizing habit makes Bottlebrush Buckeye perfect for a woodland understory or the forest edge.
