Symphyotrichum laeve var. laeve 'Bluebird' (Asteraceae)
Clusters of 1" violet-blue flowers with gold centers cover the top half of this 3-4' vase-shaped plant during late summer and fall. An introduction from the Mt. Cuba Center for the Study of Piedmont Flora, this aster is agreeably tolerant of a range of soils and moisture levels. Butterflies will enjoy the splash of blue in your fall garden.
