Camassia scilloides (Liliaceae)
In late spring, pale violet-blue flowers appear on 1-2' plants. This native bulb, like most bulbs, looks best when planted in drifts along with perennials to provide summer interest when the bulbs go summer-dormant. Iris versicolor and Zephyranthes candida would be great companions. Happiest in moist areas such as by the edge of a pond. Our only eastern US Camassia, this native lily occurs from PA to Ontario and WI south to TX and GA. Native.
