Carex texensis

Partial Shade

Carex texensis (Cyperaceae)
(CARE-eks tex-EN-sis)
Texas Sedge

We admire the touchable, fine texture of this little native sedge, and we're impressed with its versatility in partial sun or shady areas. Very narrow, medium-green leaves are 6-12" long, arching to form attractive, flowing 1' clumps. Useful between stepping stones or as a slower growing lawn substitute, Texas Sedge has a wonderful softening effect. Not fussy, tolerant of clay soils and evergreen in our climate.
