Ceratostigma plumbaginoides (Plumbaginaceae)
(sir-ra-to-STIG-ma plum-bah-gin-OY-deez)
Plumbago

The Latin name of this wonderful perennial is a mouthful, but Plumbago is worth growing, especially if you are one of many gardeners always looking for something new and blue for your gardens. Plumbago offers numerous tiny bright blue flowers late summer to frost on 6-8" plants. Makes pleasing company with many plants, including Coreopsis 'Moonbeam', Pennisetum 'Hameln', Caryopteris incana and Sedum 'Autumn Joy'. In the fall, the leaves turn scarlet red before going dormant and are an added attraction. Grow in partial shade and well-drained soil. Not native.
