Gelsemium rankinii (Gelsemiaceae)
An unusual and hard-to-find reblooming Jessamine. Resembles its cousin G. sempervirens — vigorous growth, narrow and shiny evergreen leaves with vast numbers of tubular yellow flowers that are a feast for early hummers. Swamp Jessamine is unique in that it rewards the gardener with a rebloom in fall. Take note that this species is not fragrant like the more common G. sempervirens. Provide a sunny fence, trellis, or hillside for optimum bloom.
