Hibiscus grandiflorus (Malvaceae)
A giant beauty — huge, velvety gray-green leaves on 6-7' stems with soft-pink plate-sized blooms from late summer into fall. Because of its late bloom, Japanese Beetles leave this hibiscus alone. Native to the southern coastal US, and happy in moist-to-average sunny locations; may survive in zone 6 with winter mulch.
