This Liatris is native to the upper Mississippi valley and is found in areas with dry, rocky, well drained soils. Late summer into early fall, vertical spikes bear purple florets on 1.5-2' stems. Another tough liatris providing late vertical purple color. This short species is well suited to smaller gardens.
