Rhododendron linearifolium var. macrosepalum 'Seigai' (Ericaceae)
This special rhodie is our only non-native Azalea. At first glance, most people do not recognize this evergreen as a rhododendron because of the extremely narrow, linear, fuzzy leaves. In addition, unusual rose-lilac flowers have uncharacteristic strap-like petals and are lightly fragrant. A unique specimen with a light and airy texture. Grows 3-4' tall and requires the same culture as other members of this genus: porous, well drained, acidic soil with high broken shade. Slow growing, but worth the wait.
