Sabatia dodecandra var. foliosa (Gentianaceae)
Uncommon even in its native coastal marshes, this plant is definitely underutilized in gardens, so much so that no clear consensus on a common name has emerged among gardeners. Whether you call it Rose Gentian, Marsh Rose Gentian, Perennial Sea-Pink, or Marsh Pink you will fall in love with this delicate native and its very alluring fragrance. The rose-pink flowers are held above thin, pointed leaves on tall thin stems. Use in a sunny wet area where it will spread by rhizomes. Thanks to VA naturalist and ecologist John Hummer for sharing seed.
