Salvia chamaedryoides (Lamiaceae)
(SAL-vee-a kam-ee-dry-OY-deez)
Blue Oak Sage

This Mexican charmer wafts summertime air with sagey scents from soft, gray-green, tiny leaves. Strongly contrasting periwinkle blue, lipped flowers are eye-catching in the garden in sunny, well-drained locations. It has a squatty, horizontal form of 1' tall by 18" wide. Place it with Delosperma cooperi or let it weave into Artemisia 'Valerie Finnis' for an appealing drought-tolerant duo. Native to Mexico.
