Thalictrum rochebrunianum (Ranunculaceae)
Lavender Mist Meadow Rue
Sturdy upright stems produce large airy panicles in summer, yielding small light-lavender flowers with drooping yellow stamens. The effect is magical, managing to be both soft and bold. Lobed leaves resemble a beefy columbine, and form a low pedestal for the towering spires of bloom. This misty beauty is happiest in lightly shaded areas here in the South — site in average to rich soils with plenty of moisture.
