Callirhoe bushii (Malvaceae)
(cal-eh-ROW-ee BUSH-ee-eye)
Bush's Poppy Mallow

2-3" cupped blooms create bright magenta splashes as Poppy Mallow weaves its way through neighboring plants. The flowers’ rich color and distinctive shape give the plants in this genus their wonderful common name — ‘Winecups’. Sprawling but more upright than the wider ranging C. Involucrata, this species makes a great choice for interplanting in a sunny border. Prefers full sun and displays outstanding drought-tolerance once established.
