Yucca filamentosa 'Color Guard' (Agavaceae)
(YUK-ah fill-ah-men-TOE-sa)
Adam's Needle

A colorful selection of our Southeastern Y. filamentosa. Spiky leaves are green with a wide golden stripe up the center, sometimes tinted pink, providing an interesting symmetrical variegation on each leaf. Plant several for a display of brightly colored foliage, or use as a focal point in the garden. Combines nicely with other xeric plants for year-round color and striking architectural form. Clusters of white, waxy bell-shaped flowers adorn the 6 stalk, adding late-summer interest. Prefers full sun and sharp drainage. 'Color Guard' does quite well in a container; mix and match. with pots of tropicals for a bold effect.
