Thelypteris noveboracensis (Thelypteridacea)
New York Fern
Native throughout the Eastern US, this common fern can be found in large colonies carpeting the forest floor. It has light, lacy green fronds 1-1.5' tall with leaflets that taper towards the base. New York Fern prefers partly shaded woodlands with fairly moist soils and can take more sun if moisture is also increased. Excellent for naturalizing, as a groundcover in large wooded areas or filling in spots in a shady bed. Spore-grown.
