Agastache aurantiaca 'Apricot Sprite' (Lamiaceae)
(ag-ah-STA-chee aw-ran-ti-AYE-kuh)
Apricot Sprite Licorice Hyssop

Sometimes called Hummingbird Mint, this Hyssop species is native to the mountains of northern Mexico. Bees and hummingbirds feast on nectar from the bright-orange tubular flowers, and humans can't resist brushing up against the silvery leaves to release an intoxicating anise fragrance. Perfect for containers or in sunny well-drained areas. Upright form, about 2' tall, with nearly continuous bloom from summer into fall. Despite its Southwest origins, 'Apricot Sprite' needs at least average watering during hot dry spells. Its airy presence is perfect for the front of the border.
