Trachelospermum jasminoides 'Variegata' (Apocynaceae)
(tray-key-low-SPER-mum jaz-min-OY-deez)
Variegated Confederate Jasmine

This variegated form of Confederate Jasmine has the same small white blooms and powerful fragrance as the straight species. Plus, the fantastic foliage has eye appeal; leathery leaves are bordered and patterned with creamy white. As is common with variegated forms, it is slower growing and prefers more shade than its fully green cousin. We've had it overwinter here in zone 7, some winter protection assures success. Let this beauty climb up a wall, trellis or pergola.
