Bee Balm

This is a straight species crop of Monarda fistulosa grown from seed collected here in Orange County, NC, and generously shared with us by the UNC Botanical Garden. Lovely, pale-lavender flowers in summer atop vigorous plants that show superior drought tolerance and mildew resistance. One of the richest sources of nectar for bees and other pollinators. Grows 3-4' tall, and spreads into a sizable swath over time. Great for a meadow, or naturalizing in an open area.
