Asclepias exaltata (Apocynaceae)
Named for its resemblance to pokeweed, this Asclepias is found throughout the eastern United States, growing happily along forest edges in dappled-to-part shade. Tall for a milkweed, it towers to 6' under ideal conditions. Interesting white flowers with pendulous umbels that are similar in appearance to an Allium bloom. Provides a Monarch larval food source for part-shade areas where Butterfly Weed won't grow.
