Iris virginica var. alba (Iridaceae)
(EYE-ris vir-GIN-i-ka AL-buh)
Southern Blue Flag Iris
We are excited to offer this special variant of I. virginica for the first time in many years. From a few plants shared with us by a customer, this Iris has finally multiplied its way back into production! The same vigorous form and summertime bloom as the species, but flowers are bright white streaked in greenish-yellow. Beefy seed pods will hold your interest, but seedlings may show some variation in color; deadheading will keep your patch consistent. Plants adapt to average garden conditions but will be happiest in a sunny, moist location; great for mucky areas with poor drainage.
Bloom period: late-spring
Container size: Gal.
