Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Nana Gracilis' (Cupressaceae)
A dwarf cultivar of Hinoki Falsecypress that has been grown in Japan for over 100 years, and is often used for bonsai. Blunt-tipped foliage is held in short, densely packed fans, giving the tree a layered look. A true dwarf, it will slowly grow to its ultimate height of about 10'. Dark evergreen foliage stands out in the landscape. Ideal as a specimen plant, in a rock garden, or in a container. Best in full sun in average to well-drained soils.
