Xanthosoma aurea 'Lime Zinger' (Araceae)
A tropical perennial from South America, 'Lime Zinger' is a cultivar of unknown origins with bright chartreuse leaves up to 2' long and 1' across. Strictly tropical, it will thrive in hot wet southern summers but cannot overwinter outside. This is easily resolved by digging the underground rhizome and storing it in a dry dark place for the winter, or keeping the plant in a container to bring inside. The huge glowing leaves are a sharp contrast with the bright reds, blacks, and purples of other tropicals. Best in rich moist soils with some filtering of direct sun.
